2,301 Minority Students to Get Scholarship

The merit-cum-means scholarship, given by the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs, for pursuing graduate and postgraduate-level professional or technical courses would be given to 2,301 students from minority communities in Tamil Nadu during 2012-13, according to Collector Jayashree Muralidharan.
The scholarships would be given to 1,098 Muslim students, 1,197 Christians and three each from Sikh and Buddhist communities.

Candidates pursuing professional or technical courses such as engineering, medicine, MBA, MCA and other similar courses are eligible for the scholarship.

Applicants should have secured a minimum of 50 per cent marks in the previous annual examination of their study.

The annual income of the parent must not exceed Rs.2.5 lakh. All applicants should have an account with a nationalised bank.

Interested candidates can get more details about the scholarship from the website: www.momascholarship.gov.in to obtain the application. The last date for submission of fresh applications is September 30.

For renewal of scholarship, the last date for submission of applications is December 31, Ms.Muralidharan said in a press release.
